Obviously this is not a good thing BUT apparently shipping is now going to be faster. Because of the melted polar ice, ships can now pass directly from the pacific to the atlantic via a drastically shorter route through the northern pole region. I suppose that this will lower some emissions from shipping but the real problem of HUGE supply chains and overseas manufacturing needs to be addressed for us to really make any environmental impact.
