This blog is for students enrolled in DSID 130 Sustainable Design in the Fall 2011. Enter at least two blogposts per week about sustainability. It can be anything that you read, hear, or see. You can add links, photos, and please write up a one or two sentence description of what makes it such a compelling entry. Build, share, learn. This is what begins to make you an active and life long learner!

ZIPPO lighter
This could be a real surprise to everyone but zippo lighters are actually very sustainable. Usually made of metal, scraps can be melted down and reused. Zippo's have a very long life. The company was founded in 1932 and became popular in WWII because of its durability. Today, those original lighters can still spark and ignite. When's the last time you heard of anyone throwing away a zippo lighter?
